The next few weeks were very busy ones for the girls as they threw everything they had into the band. Roxy, after her initial uncertainty, had found her feet and she implemented her plan with a drive and determination that seemed to have no limits. She spent hours on the phone begging for favours and discounts, arranging meetings and getting a better understanding of exactly what she needed to do to make the band a success. The girls quickly got used to receiving a string of calls, emails and text messages from their tireless manager, who kept them informed of new developments, reminded them of meetings, practice sessions and appointments, and helped create the real feeling that things were about to happen for them.

Having quickly realized that record companies were constantly bombarded with enquiries from hopeful young bands, Roxy knew that a different approach was needed. She now knew that if she could create some interest in, and support for, the band without any record company support then they would be in a much stronger position. They might even find the same people that had been so quick to dismiss Roxy on the phone pursuing them instead!

The tireless girl had firstly spent some time getting the girls' music recorded. Anna had some good friends in the music industry so they had been able to get into a recording studio and get all their songs professionally recorded without spending a fortune. Using contacts she made as she spoke to people in the music business, she also found a small film company that was happy to shoot some videos of them. They agreed to charge only a small fee and in exchange Roxy agreed that the band would perform at the owner's daughter's twenty first birthday party. The company was filming at the party as a memento for the birthday girl and they even agreed to film the band's performance so they'd have some footage of their first ever concert!

None of the girls were well off and though they were happy to contribute what they could, investing money in their future was a big challenge for them. They all appreciated Roxy's ingenuity in doing everything she could to minimize the costs and had no problem in delivering whatever favours Roxy had to offer to get the help they needed. The thought of their first proper concert was a little scary though!

Interestingly, no-one had a hostile reaction to the bands' sexuality. Roxy always made a point of mentioning it when talking to contacts and she never once had someone display any negativity about the bands' lesbianism. Even she had been a little surprised when the owner of the film company had suggested that they perform at his daughter's party and had asked if it would be an issue. He'd simply replied that though he knew his daughter was straight she had several gay friends and, in his opinion, it made the band a more interesting act. All the girls were glad to hear this, and it gave them the confidence to think that most people would be happy to accept them.
